Hello! My name is Rev. Michelle Brotherton. I'm a United Church of Canada minister serving St. Paul's United Church- St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Ecumenical Shared Ministry in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada.
I'm a lifelong person of faith having grown up in the church. As a young adult I struggled as many do with the teachings of the church. Through my personal struggle with mental health issues in my late teens and adulthood I have come to a very different place about faith and my spiritual journey. Questions are real! Struggle is real!

Through my personal struggle with mental health issues in my late teens and adulthood I have come to a very different place about faith and my spiritual journey. Questions are real! Struggle is real! But there is a Spirit that is far bigger than I. There is a Spirit that is Life, Love, Transformation and Community known in the person of Jesus Christ. Christ lived, loved, struggled, offered healing to those marginalized by society. In him I find one who leads us to living lives that are rooted in the Divine (God). I seek to embody Christ in my valuing of all of Creation, including humanity. I seek to be a safe person for all people in our glorious diversity.
The United Church of Canada New Creed (1968) speaks to me of God and my faith.
We are not alone,
we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.
We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God..
